characteristics. Both give him a chance to stretch his capacity for ingenuity and creativity.

Artistic expression is not new to Alex. He began drawing and sculpting as a child in the Carpathian Mountains of the USSR. As he says, "my father was commenting on my hobby when I was very young...let him play, he will grow out of it." So when Alex wanted to become a sculptor, his father said to him "bring me a successful sculptor I would like to speak with him.” “I could not find one...so he told me, ‘sculpture is not a Jewish piece of bread. Study something where you can make money ... and if you still love your hobby when you grow up, you can do it in your free time.’ And that is what I do.”

After the USSR, an advanced degree in mechanical engineering gave Alex the opportunity to work in Israel, Mexico, and UK before moving to the US with General Electric. He has been an executive there for the last 8 years. In his long career, he has received numerous awards and exhibited around the world. He is a member of the Oxford Arts Society and the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA), where for 3 years he was also the Vice President. Alex currently resides in South Carolina, and has remained actively involved in the arts throughout his travels, exhibiting in different countries. His work is in private and public collections around the world. A short list of some of his exhibitions and awards is noted next.
